Course Requirements:

Mat - 150 hours (50 apprentice teaching + 30 taking classes + 30 self-guided study/practice + 20 observing classes + 20 lectures)

Mat + Reformer - 300 hours (100 apprentice teaching + 60 taking classes + 60 self-guided study/practice + 50 observing classes + 40 lectures)

Reformer - 150 hours (50 apprentice teaching + 30 taking classes + 30 self-guided study/practice + 20 observing classes + 20 lectures)

Participants are also required to attend an an anatomy lecture, taught by instructor and DPT, Amanda Pignato.

To receive a certificate of completion, participants must pass a final test including a practical and written exam. The Reformery Mat + Reformer Teacher Training is a NASM/AFAA Approved Provider.

Course Description

Led by The Reformery cofounder, Hannah McMullen, this training is an in-depth education on the Pilates method. Open to anyone interested in deepening their Pilates practice and/or teaching Pilates, it includes the history, evolution and application of Pilates, including the classical method and our modern approach. Participants will leave the training with a comprehensive knowledge of how to effectively teach mat and/or Reformer Pilates in a private + group setting. Graduates are not guaranteed employment at The Reformery but are guaranteed an audition to work at The Reformery. 

The training includes two separate courses: Mat/Anatomy and Reformer. They can be completed separately. To participate in reformer only, you must have a prior mat and anatomy training. Teacher training includes both in-person lectures and self-guided study/practice hours, as outlined above.

Meet the Educators

Hannah McMullen is co-author and the lead educator for the teacher training, as well as co-founder and instructor at The Reformery. Prior to opening The Reformery, Hannah taught in NYC and has almost a decade of experience in the Pilates industry. This is her fourth teacher training session training and many graduates are currently teaching at The Reformery and at other Rochester-area studios.

Olivia is an assistant educator and has been an instructor at The Reformery for 3 years. She also teaches yoga, specializing in perinatal practice and works as a birth and postpartum doula.

Amanda Pignato is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and instructor at The Reformery. Amanda leads the Functional Anatomy coursework.
